Information Regarding Sacramental Preparation for 2025-26

Including sacramental preparation for Reconciliation, Eucharist, Confirmation, and full initiation in the adapted RCIA for children and teens seeking Baptism

    • Since preparing for a sacrament involves formation in addition to grade-level catechesis, sacramental preparation at St. Francis is not grade specific and children are expected to have participated in religious education in the year prior to preparing for a sacrament.

    • Families requesting sacramental preparation for their child are asked to indicate this when registering for religious education so that additional information can be provided. Please note that there is a separate materials fee for sacramental preparation programs.

    •    Families requesting sacraments for a child attending Catholic School are also asked to complete and return a religious education registration form so that additional information can be provided.

    • Learn more about the preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist

    • Learn more about the preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation

    • Learn more about how children and teens (age 7 and older) prepare for the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist in a process modeled on the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)

    RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM

Our parish Religious Education program supports parents who are the first to give witness to the Christian way of life to their children. Together, we share the faith in hopes that children:

    • experience a personal relationship with Jesus and know that they are God’s special and unique creation

    • realize that they are immensely and unconditionally loved by God and that the Trinity dwells in them

    • understand that they are made to live in community, and have a responsibility to live moral lives, and to also continue Jesus’ mission by communicating God’s love to others

Our parish presents a full program of faith formation following the Archdiocese of Washington's
    Forming Disciples Religion Curriculum.

Families are encouraged to have their children participate in Religious Education each year.

Would you like to volunteer and teach our children? Learn more.
